Beatrice Simone Admiraal

Beatrice (1949) was born into an artistic family of musicians (Simon Admiraal pianist), painters (Cootje Horst) and sculptors (Lidi van Mourik Broekman) and grew up surrounded by creative people. She has long worked with textiles, colours and shapes so it comes as no surprise that observing and creating comes naturally to her. Only at a later age did she start painting at Mariët Hylkema. There she quickly discovered and embraced the freedom of abstract painting with acrylic paint.

Strong and vibrant colour palettes, often with organic shapes, are typical of Beatrice’s paintings. The multilayer aspect brings out the curiosity of the viewer. She is inspired by many good memories of holidays in her beloved France but events from daily life and nature also create a source of ideas. In her works she likes to play with unexpected shapes and the contrast between cool and warm colours. A pleasure for the eye!
